You Know You're a Granny When ...

You start Christmas shopping in July -- you HAVE to get the good sales.

Those "Christmas in July" sales don’t quite make it ‘til July.  You just enjoy those little smiles & squeals too much to wait :)

95% of your Facebook statuses are something about your grands.

It's "strongly hinted" that you need to write about something other than your grands on Facebook.

Your grands “bring along their parents” when they come to your house.  (In our case, we are blessed to have ours living with us.)

When you go out on a date with your hubby, you keep looking at the time to visualize what your grands would be doing at that exact moment.

You wake up in the mornings with a nursery rhyme song going through your mind.

You enjoy bedtime rituals as your grands stall to go to bed.  (If your kids would have pulled these stunts, they would have been in major trouble.)

Granddad asks you out on a date, and you say you NEED to be home before your grands bedtime (afterall, you sure don’t want them to forget you if you miss your bedtime ritual with them).

You know every character from Veggie Tales, Hermie, Disney, My Little Pony, Care Bear, Strawberry Shortcake, Angelina Ballerina … you get the picture.

You don’t “spoil” your grands … you just “take very good care of them”  (wink :: wink)

And, of course, your grands are the cutest and bestest in the universe :)

Grannyisms ...yes, we are blessed.

Anybody else want to add to the list?

Lucy ... my girl ... Lucy ... talkin' about my girl ... Lucy my girl!

You know you're a Granny when your cookie-loving, teenage grandson arrives unexpectedly at your door and you don't have fresh baked cookies for him to enjoy. You feel so guilty that you drop everything and mix some up post-haste.

You live with your Grand? We are planning to combine households with our son and his family sometime in the next year. I'm looking forward to it.....they are too. But, oh the work that needs to happen till then!!

Being a Nana is the best!

Thanks to everyone for chiming in! I am so thankful for my granddaughter & our new little Valentine coming into our family in Feb. And I'm very thankful to have you all taking the time to read my posts! God is amazing as to how HE brings people from all over the world to share through modern technology.

Doris, you are in for the most wonderful blessing when you combine your households! Spending time with my granddaughter everyday has been ... well, actually I'm speechless! Lucy turns 3 in Sept, and she never ceases to amaze me. Our son-in-law is military so they've been with us the whole time. I'm not sure what I'll do when they get a post somewhere ... so I just enjoy each day that I have with Lucy. Email me sometime & we can swap stories :) God bless in this new adventure!

From your profile picture you don't look like a granny, but from your blog content I can see the wisdom.

Smiles and joy keep you young at heart.
